How it all started: our story with Salesforce

In 2015, the seeds of WithSecure™ Cloud Protection for Salesforce were sown. We at WithSecure™ transitioned to Salesforce for our CRM needs and in the process our team found a security gap. A sudden realization hit that the platform, despite its solid infrastructure security, was vulnerable to malware and phishing attacks through its many functionalities.

“Shouldn’t we scan the content passing through Salesforce?” our team thought. Naturally, we as a cyber security house with an award-winning antivirus solution had the tools to plug that gap. Our team originally planned building an in-house tool for the need, but soon realized the potential for a wider market.

In 2016, amidst increasing customer concerns over cloud security, we seized the opportunity. In the San Francisco tech hub, a close collaboration between us and Salesforce began. By joining forces with Salesforce, we were able to develop a solution that was seamlessly optimized for the platform and its complementary security capabilities.

We launched WithSecure™ Cloud Protection for Salesforce in 2017. Our Salesforce native solution quickly drew interest from large enterprises with high security standards.

As the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the move to online platforms, the importance of cloud security solutions like Cloud Protection for Salesforce became evident as ever. In October 2021, the product gained strategic significance and we started to grow our team into an independent business unit – an internal start-up dedicated to securing Salesforce customers.

Today, WithSecure™ Cloud Protection for Salesforce safeguards critical operations for a diverse range of global organizations, from large enterprises to government entities.
